Kayak Launch Location


Matunuck Management Area (Succotash Salt Marsh): (State Wildlife Management Area) Exit from Rt 1 onto Succotash Road, the same exit for East Matunuck Beach. This area encompasses over 145 acres of salt marsh and wetlands on Potter Pond, Point Judith Pond, and Block Island Sound. Popular activities in this area include canoeing, bird watching, and fishing. It is an ideal setting to observe many migratory bird and waterfowl species in the fall and spring. . Parking is available at the State beach. A fee is charged during season but free otherwise. Kayak launching is difficult. Most land along the access road is private and there is no parking on the roadway. Launching may be possible from the far west end of the parking lot into the marsh.
