Kayak Launch Location

Directions

Bristol Harbor, Poppasquash Rd: (CRMC designated public access) From the north coming down Rt 136, take one of the crossover streets to Rt 114. The best one is Chestnut St. Go south on Rt 114 about 1/3 mile and look carefully for Poppasquash Rd on your right. If you see the Harbor on your right you have passed the road. From the south over Mt. Hope Bridge, take Rt 114 to the harbor side area of Bristol. Drive by Independence Park to Poppasquash Rd just beyond the park. There are three possible launch locations on Poppasquash Rd. From the Rt 114 end, the first is a broad gravel beach area, just east of a condominium complex. The second is at the Mill Pond entrance, just west of the condominiums. The third is within a small inlet on the northwest corner of harbor. There are no sanitary facilities in the area.

The first beach: This section of shorline is a gentle gravel beach. The first photo is as it appears coming from Rt 114. There appears room to park several cars off the side of the road.

Mill Pond outlet: This launch is a little turnoff just west of the condominiums. The first photo is as it appears from the west. It is quite rocky but possible to carry a kayak over the short section of rocks. Parking is limited along the north side of the road.

The second beach: This section of shorline has a nice gentle beach. The second photo above is as it appears coming from Rt 114. There is limited parking for a couple of cars across the road. Additional parking is available about 300 ft east on the road in Colt State Park, as seen in the first photo above.
